I like this saltless kozhukatai to a big extent.. On karthigai
days , my amma makes this finger shaped kozhukatai for Karthigai , Avvaiyar viratham & Ganesh
Chathurthi. We make kozhukatais according to our creativity. Anyway Aachi usually says number of dheepam
kozhukatais made should be equal to number of members in our family. During
Karthigai, plates with this agal vilakku(kozhkatai) and this finger shaped
kozhukatai plays a big role from my childhood. My amma actually had this habit.
She takes the finger shaped kozhukatai one by one, heats it in agal vilakku
(kozhkattai) and she will say “what a taste!” . On seeing this, I tried it to
do always during these festive seasons. Of course, I love this taste while
eating with coconut bite.
Ingredients:-
Rice flour – 1 cup
Grated Coconut – 1/4 Cup
Water – according to the quantity of rice flour
Gingely oil – 1 teaspoon
Method :-
Make a dough by mixing
water with the rice flour & Grated Coconut .
For softness you can add
gingely oil to make the dough soft. Make the kozhukatais with the dough
according to your creativity.
Take water in a pan. Let it boil for 2 to 3 minutes. Add
kozhukatais to the boiled water.
After some time, kozhukatais can be taken from
the pan.
Don’t steam it for a long time
because kozhukatai will become rough.
This saltless kozhukatai is ready to be served with grated
coconut..
